My younger daughter likes to wear slouchy hats. Because they’re usually worn on the back of the head, the brim fits great on the forhead but not so great on the neck. My solution was to shape the brim with short rows so it gets narrower towards the neck. It seems to do the trick.

The pattern will be published as a freeby in Finnish online knitting magazine Ulla.

The yarn used for this hat is from a finnish spinnery Pirtti. We went for a little summer trip there over a year ago and their yarn shop was impressive.

    ellie, kiitos :)

    Maryse, thank you!

Virginia, I used wrap and turn method and it worked well with this particular yarn (I've had troubles with short rows in ribbing when using slippery merino). Have you tried japanese short rows? They usually come out neat even when w&t doesnt.
    Nonaknits has a good tutorial.

    Chris, aww, thank you!

Lucette, thank you! I have to find out if I can publish an English version later.
