I’ve always thought that lace shawls are not my thing. They’re beautiful but I didn’t think I had enough patiency to knit rows that are hundreds of stitches long. Well, never say never. This is maybe the fourth shawl I’ve ever made and let me tell you, it was fun! I’ve already casted on for another one in slightly thicker yarn.
This shawl is obviously inspired by my Kuurankukka-mittens featuring a similar Tulip pattern. The middle section is worked first in the round, then the sides are made. The edging is worked last.
The magic of blocking was unbelievable. The feeling when I removed the pins and held the blocked shawl in my hands, was wonderful. The garment was so light, smooth and airy. I now see why knitters get hooked on shawl knitting. I think I am now, too.
